The Mourning Doves is a Discord community server. The primary focus is acting as a gallery and hub for artwork by Bek, primarily for but not limited to Dead of Night: Hiraeth Miasma, but the server has also become a small and welcoming community of people who enjoy sharing artwork, writing stories, and generally bringing a comfortable vibe to the server!TMD server is a pro-fiction, anti-harassment, and anti-censorship adult-only server. It is not a suitable space for underage users or those with anti-fiction beliefs, and those who fit those categories will be denied entry.Please read our rules before applying.

Our server has strict rules regarding behaviour, safety, conduct, and other concerns. Please read over them before applying to join. We have a warning system implemented but certain users will be banned outright should certain rules not be followed.

✧ Rules — 🔞 AGE & SAFETY

This server is strictly 18+. If we learn you are underage, or were when you joined and lied to get into the server, you will be permanently banned. This ban will not be lifted even under the circumstance of you turning 18.

✧ Rules — 🚷 BEHAVIOUR & CONDUCT

  • Treat other users with kindness and respect. No bullying, flaming, or drama.

  • Bigotry of any kind will not be tolerated here. This includes but is not limited to racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and sexism. We are an inclusive server and you are expected to respect that.

  • We will not moderate slurs that are able to be reclaimed, given you personally can reclaim them. Our main intolerance is slurs directed towards other users, or ones which cannot be reclaimed, such as the word "retard" (or "sped" when derogatory.)

  • We will not tolerate harmful words being intentionally misspelt, ie. restarted, r-tard, keys, kaywhyess, etc..

  • If a large disagreement happens, contact/ping an admin instead of escalating or contributing.

  • Do not argue with moderators. If you have concerns about anything, bring them up calmly or DM an admin to discuss it in private. Alternatively, you can make a private report in our report channel.

✧ Rules — 🧠 CONTENT GUIDELINES

  • This is a pro-fiction server. This means we support our members creating, enjoying, or exploring dark, taboo, or controversial themes in fiction. This does not mean these themes are tolerated in a real-life setting.

  • You may not harass or shame anyone for their work or what they indulge in.

  • We do not tolerate ill treatment of our members for fictional content they enjoy or create. Report any targeted harassment, whether the harassment is towards a server member or ie. a Twitter/X user.

✧ Rules — 💬 DISCUSSIONS & POSTING

  • Keep topics in the correct channels. Create threads if you have to or don't know where to post something. Use content warnings and spoiler tags as needed. Feel free to redirect other people if things get off topic, just be kind about it and don't make it awkward.

  • NSFW themes are completely allowed, but in art, writing, respectable discussions, and media only. This is not a server for sexting, flirting with others, or getting your or other members' rocks off.

  • Discussions of kink and NSFW tropes are totally fine, but do not treat this space like a hookup room. Erotic behaviour towards others will earn you a warning, or removed from the server.

  • Heavy topics should go in the proper vent/discussion channels, with spoilers and content warnings when needed. If you don't know where to post it, you're free to ask or make your own thread somewhere for it.

  • Discussions of anti behaviour, censorship, and fandom drama should go in 🧠┇ fandomwank. Discussions of non-fandom and non-anti/proship discussions should go in 🥀┇ drama.

  • Do not spam with the intention of flooding channels or disrupting normal posting behaviour.

✧ Rules — 🚫 BANNABLE CONTENT

  • NSFW involving real people, as we have no way of verifying their age or if they consented.

  • Artwork of underage characters in a style realistic enough to be mistaken for a real photograph.

  • AI or deepfake pornographic content of real people.

  • Real imagery of gore, under any circumstances. Responsible discussions regarding things that involve violence are accepted but attach a warning and a spoiler where possible. This also goes for gore/harm involving animals.

  • Pornographic artwork of fictional characters portrayed by real actors. Non-pornographic content or ship art are OK. Things such as kissing, hugging, etc. are OK. This does not apply to characters portrayed by underage actors, which is bannable on the first offence.

  • If you're unsure if your work of characters portrayed by real actors is allowed, consider: is your work more revealing or suggestive than what they have been filmed doing for television? If yes, you are better off not posting it.

✧ Rules — 🛑 ZERO TOLERANCE ZONE

We do not tolerate any of the following, and if we notice any of them you will be removed from the server.

  • No doxxing. No witch-hunting. No stalking. No brigading. On or off our server.

  • No minor attracted persons, harmful pro-para, or zoophile identification of any kind.

  • No encouragement of self-harm, suicide, or illegal activity.

  • No generative AI, unless it is for the sake of a discussion regarding it.

  • No using mental illness or personal disabilities as a shield for harmful behavior.

  • No using the server to host or organize harassment campaigns or targeted harassment towards other people, whether it is hosted on the server or not.

✧ Rules — ⛔ OFF-SERVER BEHAVIOUR

If we find out you engage in any of the following, whether in the server or off, you will be blacklisted and permanently banned from the server. This applies even if you are targeting anti-shippers.

  • Witch-hunting, doxxing, or dogpiling, or the encouragement of such behaviour.

  • NSFW artwork, writing, or inappropriate discussions of real underage celebrities, actors, or public figures.

  • Policing of fictional content, ships, media, tropes, taboo content, or interests.

  • Encouraging self-harm, suicide baiting, "jokingly" telling people to partake in harmful activities, harmful use of slurs towards other people, or harmful use of intentionally misspelt words such as restarted, acoustic, keys, kaywhyess, etc..

  • Bullying artists for what or how they draw, even if that content is "squeaky clean and wholesome."

  • Generally unacceptable, abusive, harmful, and/or anti-social behaviour towards other people.

✧ Rules — 🧸🎀 LOLI, SHOTA, & CUB

We've recently (reluctantly) had to update our rules regarding content including NSFW imagery of lolicon, shotacon, and cub art in order to not violate Discord's community rules, guidelines, and child safety policy.

✅ What's still allowed:

  • SFW and NSFW discussions surrounding shotacon, lolicon, cub, and attraction to fictitious underage characters.

  • Sharing of SFW artwork of characters that are shota, loli, or cub.

  • Use of words such as shota, loli, cub, shotacon, lolicon, kodacon, etc.

  • NSFW discussions of these things should preferably be kept to 🧸🎀┇ chat, however it's understandable if it comes up in other NSFW age-restricted channels. Just stay safe!

Even these are risky to the server but we aren't going to fully ban mere discussions.

🚫 What is no longer allowed:

  • NSFW images, videos, or artwork of characters that are considered to be shotacon, lolicon, or cub, whether through direct uploading to the server or through embedded image links. Discord explicitly does not allow the hosting of artwork of underage characters on their servers.

  • Suggestive images of shotacon, lolicon, or cub. If it's meant to fetishize, arouse, or be ogled at by the viewer, it's not allowed here. Sorry! We hate this shitty rule too.

❔ Weird grey areas:

We understand that sometimes things don't fit perfectly into the two previous categories. These kind of have to be managed on a case-by-case basis. For example:

  • Characters that are designed to appear very young or with features that could be interpreted as child-like, but are technically of age. (ie. Iruru from Dragon Maid)

  • Characters that are designed to appear unmistakably very adult, but are technically underage. (ie. Jojo from JJBA)

  • Aged-up versions of characters that are originally underage in the original media.

  • Fantasy races with non-human aging traits.

  • Adults that are simply short.

These likely won't get you in trouble with us, but it's worth keeping in mind that Discord scans each image uploaded to their platform for child safety reasons. When sharing NSFW or suggestive content of your own original characters, saying they're depicted as 18 might help.We know these rules are bullshit. But we have to choose, and we choose to keep the server afloat.

✧ TMD — Common questions

  • I was banned from the server. How can I appeal?

You may be able to appeal your ban through AppealGG, however approval is not guaranteed.

  • I received a warning. The icon beside my name is embarrassing. How do I remove it?

Depending on what rule you broke, the only way to have it removed is by waiting. Warnings from minor offences expire faster than warnings from repeated and/or heavier warnings.The warning icon is added to encourage people to behave themselves. Don't want one? Don't break the rules.

  • I'm on my third warning. What happens after that?

After the third violation you will be removed from the server and likely will not be allowed back in.

  • I want to report someone, but I don't want my identity revealed to the person I'm reporting.

When you make a report, we do not reveal anything to the reported person about who made the report or why. You remain anonymous.

  • I tried to join but I was rejected. Why?

Typically we deny applications when there is a lack of information, information provided is too vague, or no social media account was linked. We also sometimes deny people who only want to join to see pornography.

  • Why do you need my social media account when I apply?

We require it so we can screen what you're interested in, what you post, and go through a few of your posts, replies, and the people you are following. This is non-negotiable. If your account is private, there is the option of providing us temporary follow approval to your account until your appeal is approved or denied. Either way, we will unfollow automatically!

If you've gone over everything you need to better understand our server and our values, you're free to submit a join application! These don't often take long for approval or denial, but there are times where you may be waiting longer than usual.
